Rossel Zamora, 30, of Barangay (village) Langtad, Argao said he was fishing at 4 a.m. Monday when bad weather caused him to drift for 34 hours in the sea between Cebu and Bohol.
Zamora was declared missing Monday afternoon after he failed to come home.
He told the Philippine Daily Inquirer (parent company of INQUIRER.net) because he could no longer see where he was going due to the heavy rains on Monday, his boat ran out of fuel.
He said he had to contend with the huge waves, rain, the cold night and hunger, but he did not lose hope.
Zamora said his boat finally drifted towards the Getafe port 2 p.m. Tuesday.
Getafe police said people at the port brought Zamora to the police station where he called up the Argao police station so he could be fetched.
The weather bureau in Cebu warned fishermen and small sea craft to be careful because of rough seas brought about by the southwest monsoon.
The Office of the Civil Defense in Central Visayas also warned people living along riverbanks to go to safer places.
