ANGELES CITY, Philippines--Only this city’s drivers in the entire Central Luzon joined the nationwide transport strike led by militant groups on Monday, monitoring from the Philippine National Police in the region showed.

About 60 percent of 15,000 jeepneys plying Angeles City stopped for four hours on Monday to demand an oil price rollback and the scrapping of the oil deregulation law, according to Angie Ladera, chairperson of the Workers Alliance in Region 3 (War 3).

In Baguio City, about 50 drivers and members of militant groups on Monday marched down Session Road to denounce the successive oil price increases.

The police, however, said no transport strike was held in Baguio on Monday.
