Guard killed, another wounded in Bulacan resort robbery

BULAKAN, Bulacan, Philippines -- A security guard at a resort in Bocaue town was killed while his companion was wounded when five men shot them and took the resort's earnings at about 8 p.m. Friday, police said.
Superintendent Rizalino Andaya, police chief here, said the robbers attacked security guards Benjamin Veraces and Victor Pascual, who were manning the gate of the Dream Wave Resort in the boundary of Barangay Igulot and Turo in Bocaue.
Police said the robbers took an undetermined amount of money collected from the day's entrance fees and fled.
Veraces died while being treated at the Dr. Yanga's Hospital in the village of Poblacion in the town, hospital staff said. Pascual was wounded and was taken to the same hospital for treatment.
