CALAMBA CITY -- Four teenagers died and eight others were injured in a road accident along the national highway in Famy, Laguna.
Senior Supt. Felipe Roxas, Laguna police director, said the driver of the Mitsubishi Adventure (BDX 701) carrying the teenagers, lost control of the car, which crashed into a concrete electric post at Barangay Butuhan. Killed instantly were Irene Pagalanan, 14; Christine Joy Abucejo, 15; Mico Afuang Gagarin, 14; and a certain Michelle, 14, at about 6 p.m., Saturday night.
The eight people who suffered injuries and whose ages ranged from 14 to 18 were brought to the nearest hospital for treatment.
Roxas said the group, heading north, was on its way home and might have come from an outing.
"The van was really wrecked because of overspeeding. The driver was perhaps drunk," he added.
Famy, a fifth class municipality, lies in the northeastern part of the province of Laguna.
