ROXAS CITY -- Three persons died and 10 others were injured Sunday evening when a cargo truck rammed into a house in Barangay (village) Tanza, Panay, Capiz, some 7 kilometers from Roxas City, authorities said.
They said the cargo truck owned by businessman Edito Saludaga of Roxas City rammed into the house of Cesar Adodole, 45, who was having dinner with his family at 8:30 p.m. when the incident happened.
Adodole's wife Jocy, 40, son Cesar Jr., 12, and a certain Christian John, a house guest, were declared dead on arrival at the Roxas Memorial Provincial Hospital in Roxas City, they said.
Three other members of the Adele family and seven persons onboard the truck, including driver Romeo Dayag, 27, were injured, they said.
Senior Police Officer 4 Moreno Vega, officer-in-charge of the Panay police station, said the driver, who surrendered to the Panay town police, was drunk at the time of the incident.
The police brought Dayag to the hospital after he surrendered.
The house of Adodole, made of light materials, was destroyed. Vega said the area was accident-prone.
