COTABATO CITY, Philippines -- Police and military operatives recaptured one of the 49 inmates that bolted out of the North Cotabato provincial jail in Kidapawan City last year, authorities announced Wednesday.
North Cotabato Governor Jesus Sacdalan said Randy Tukan Kadil, who faces drug charges, was arrested in Kabacan, North Cotabato on January 18.
Redentor Marasigan, North Cotabato deputy warden, said Kadil was the ninth escapee arrested since the February 2, 2007 jailbreak.
The jailbreak, which also led to the escape of two suspected bombers, was blamed on the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF).
The MILF has repeatedly denied any role in the incident and even vowed to help in the recovery of the fugitives.
