Missing companion of Pilar Pilapil charged in Antipolo

MANILA, Philippines—The missing companion of Pilar Pilapil, who eventually became a suspect in the abduction and slay attempt on the veteran actress, was charged at the Antipolo prosecutor’s office on Tuesday morning.

Members of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group of the Philippine National Police lodged complaints of kidnapping and frustrated murder against Rosel Peñas, the reported sister-in-law of Pilapil’s husband at around 10 a.m.

“We have just received the copy of the complaint with (Pilapil’s) affidavit. After it is raffled off, the prosecutor would determine if there’s still a need for preliminary investigation,” Antipolo’s assistant city prosecutor Mario Luna said over the phone.

The Special Investigation Task Group (SITG) Pilar tagged Peñas as the suspect saying there were “inconsistencies” in her travel and employment records as she supposedly narrated to Pilapil.
