Ex-labor chief named to SSS
MANILA, Philippines—President Benigno Aquino III has named former Labor Secretary Bienvenido Laguesma as commissioner of the Social Security System (SSS) representing employers, Malacañang announced over the weekend.
It was not clear though if Laguesma would remain a member of the board of directors of the Aurora Park Economic Zone and Freeport Zone Authority (Apeco), a position to which he was appointed only last month.
Interviewed over government radio dzRB, deputy presidential spokesperson Abigail Valte also announced the appointment of Harley Rose Alcantara-Daquioag as a member of the board of Apeco.
Others named to government posts by the President were Dr. Jaime Aristotle Alip as presidential adviser for Economic Empowerment of the Rural Poor; Fernando Mesa as assistant director general of the National Security Council secretariat, and Virgilio Yuzon as member of the board representing the private sector in National Development Corp.
Other appointees were Gladys Cruz Sta. Rita and Victor Ziga as members of the board of Philippine National Oil Corp.
