MANILA, Philippines?A police official who is among the accused in the 2009 Maguindanao massacre case is asking a Quezon City court to allow him to undergo a medical check-up in Camp Crame.

In a two-page motion for leave, Superintendent Abdulwahid Pedtucasan appealed to Judge Jocelyn Solis-Reyes of Regional Trial Court Branch 221 to allow him to be examined at a hospital in Camp Crame.

Pedtucasan, one of the 196 accused in the November 23, 2009 massacre, claimed to be suffering from hypertension.

He is currently detained at the Quezon City Jail Annex in Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig City along with 80 other people indicted for the massacre.

?Accused is complaining of certain ailments including hypertension. He maintains that he feels weak and oftentimes suffers from vertigo,? the motion read.

Pedtucasan through his lawyer Benedicto Malcontento said he will shoulder the costs for the medical check-up at the Camp Crame hospital, which Pedtucasan said has adequate facilities.

The 196 accused in the massacre case are facing charges for the alleged murders of 57 people in Ampatuan town in Maguindanao on November 23, 2009.

Primary suspect Andal Ampatuan Jr, along with members of his family and several supporters, heads the list of the accused.

Last year, Pedtucasan asked the court to dismiss the charges against him, saying probable cause was not properly established.

Reyes however junked Pedtucasan?s motion for judicial determination for probable cause, saying there was reason to indict the police official for his alleged participation in the murders.
