MANILA, Philippines? The Department of Education said delays in the delivery of election paraphernalia was the biggest problem faced by teachers serving in Monday?s nationwide village and youth elections.
In a press conference Monday morning, DepEd Undersecretary Alberto Muyot said the department's election task force had been receiving numerous complaints about disrupted voting in certain regions, including Bicol and Southern Tagalog, because of delays in the delivery of election materials.
?Kinulang sa preparations kaya mas maraming delays. I think everyone was caught flatfooted. Sabi nga ng Comelec (Commission on Elections), until September hindi malaman kung matutuloy or di matutuloy,? Muyot told reporters.
Muyot said classes would likely be cancelled on Tuesday in schools where delayed elections would take place.
