ILOILO CITY, Philippines?Administration standard-bearer Gilbert Teodoro challenged Speaker Prospero Nograles to make good on his warning that Lakas-Kampi-CMD members disgruntled with the party would form another group and support another candidate.
?Do not taunt anymore. Just do it,? Teodoro threw the challenge to Nograles when he was interviewed by reporters Tuesday night before speaking in a rally attended by around 8,000 at the Iloilo Freedom Grandstand.
Teodoro said Nograles would have already formed another group if he had the intention of doing so.
He chided Nograles for publicly airing his gripes against the party.
?He (Nograles) should air it within (Lakas-Kampi-CMD) and not in the media,? Teodoro said.
Teodoro made the statement after a two-hour close door meeting with administration officials on the second floor of the Hotel del Rio in Iloilo City.
The leaders included Majority Floor Leader and Iloilo Representative Arthur Defensor, Iloilo Rep. Janette Garin and former chief presidential legal counsel Raul Gonzalez.
After the meeting, the officials announced their continued support for Teodoro and their loyalty to the administration coalition.
Teodoro said he discussed with the party leaders the party situation and assured them that the problems were being resolved.
Gonzalez said Teodoro had asked for their help in his candidacy.
Defensor said the Lakas-Kampi-CMD in Iloilo would continue to support Teodoro.
?We did not resolve anything because there was nothing to resolve in the first place as far as Iloilo is concerned,? Defensor said after the meeting.
Garin said they were satisfied with Teodoro?s explanation on why he resigned as party chairman.
She said Teodoro listened and promised to act on the concerns and the complaints of party members.
