MANILA, Philippines? To hasten the delivery of the ballots for the May 10 national elections, the Commission on Elections said it will send the ballot packs straight to the municipal treasurer instead of the provincial treasurer.
In an interview Tuesday, commissioner Nicodemo Ferrer said the commission en banc approved the method to save time and resources. ?To hasten the process, the ballots will go directly to the municipal treasurer. It will not be sent to the provincial treasurer,? he said.
The process is facilitated by the fact that the ballot packs are precinct-specific and have security and tracking marks, which makes it easier to distribute. Thus, the treasurer would not have to count the ballots needed for the polling places.
