MANILA, Philippines?Lakas-Kampi administration presidential bet Gilbert Teodoro is ?amenable? to Charter change or constitutional amendments, but called for a credible process by which the Constitution will be changed
Speaking before business executives at the Wallace Business Forum roundtable discussion Thursday, he said utmost care must be given to keep the process credible.
?How you change the Constitution is just as important as the contents that will be changed. If the public distrusts the process, it will create more division in society. The process should be done through an elected constitutional convention, as a constitutional assembly by Congress is not trusted,'' he said.
Some of the key points that he would like changed had to do with including citizens' obligations to the state, as a complement to citizen's rights as stated in the Bill of Rights, as well as some provisions on governance, the judiciary, foreign ownership of land, and practice of profession by foreigners.
