MANILA, Philippines?Following the Supreme Court's ruling that President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo can still appoint a new Chief Justice, administration standard-bearer Gilbert "Gibo" Teodoro is asking Malacańang to "exercise prudence'' in making its choice.
"I have to read the Supreme Court decision first. If it's a 'must' appoint, then we can't do anything about it. If it's a 'may' appoint, then there should be prudence in the exercise,'' he said at the Wallace Business Forum roundtable discussion Thursday morning.
Teodoro had previously said there was actually no need to appoint a new Chief Justice at this time since the vacancy would not occur until May.
