MANILA, Philippines?Former president Joseph Estrada kicked off his campaign in the historic Plaza Miranda, at the heart of Quiapo district in Manila.
Estrada's running mate, Makati Mayor Jejomar Binay, prodded the people to choose a candidate with proven integrity and knowledge in governance.
"Parang di na tayo natuto kung ihahalal natin ang mga walang karanasan, mga may kaduda-dudang pagkatao, mga nagpapanggap na mahirap (It is as if we have not learned our lessons if we are to elect an inexperienced candidate, those with questionable integrity, those pretending to be poor)," Binay said.
Senatorial candidates Jose ?Jinggoy? Estrada, Ongpong Plaza, Juan Ponce-Enrile, Francisco Tatad, Joey De Venecia in their speeches called on the people to put Estrada back in Malacañang.
Environment Secretary and former Manila mayor Lito Atienza, a known ally of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, and his running mate councilor Bonjay Isip-Garcia also showed up at Tuesday?s campaign of the Estrada camp.
Atienza, who introduced his ticket for the six districts of Manila, was a no-show when Estrada announced his ticket in Tondo last year.
