OK General Lim’s candidacy, groups urge Comelec

MANILA, Philippines? The labor party-list group Partido ng Manggagawa (Workers? Party or PM) and other supporters of former General Danilo ?Danny? Lim are asking the Commission on Elections to reconsider its decision to disqualify the detained military man.

?It is simply not true that Danny Lim is a nuisance candidate. Gloria Arroyo is more of a nuisance candidate than Danny Lim if we base it on public opinion,? said PM secretary general Judy Ann Miranda in a press statement.

PM members are planning to troop to the Intramuros, Manila office of the Comelec at 8 a.m. in a rally for Lim. ?Danny Lim is a decorated officer. While Danny Lim is not a candidate of the elite, he is the leader of the elite group of the armed forces,? she said.

If the poll body fails to reverse its decision, it may ?be charged of politically motivated decisions and being an apparatus of the Arroyo regime in suppressing its political enemies.?

?Danny Lim is not adapting to trapo (traditional) politics that is why he ran as an independent, and he is being adopted by the mass movement and the forces fighting for social change,? she added.

PM was one of the several national groups that accompanied Lim when he filed his certificate of candidacy last November 27, when it also filed its manifestation to participate in the party-list elections.
