MANILA, Philippines—(UPDATE) Former Senator Vicente “Tito” Sotto III on Monday filed their certificates of candidacy for senator under the Nationalist People’s Coalition.
Sotto was accompanied by his wife Helen Gamboa and their children, including daughter Ciara Sotto. Incumbent Senator Gregorio “Gringo” Honasan was also with Sotto to lend him support.
Sotto, meanwhile, vowed to continue his fight against the proliferation of illegal drugs through legislation and oversight.
He warned that the next president "will have a serious problem with illegal drugs if we do not straighten out the relationship between the Dangerous Drugs Board, the prosecutors, and the enforcers."
Election lawyer Romulo Macalintal was also present at the filing.
