AMPATUAN, Maguindanao, Philippines? (UPDATE) Two foreign forensic experts will help in the investigation into the November 23 killing of at least 64 people here, according to Commission on Human Rights Chair Leila de Lima.
De Lima said on Sunday she brought the two foreign forensic experts here during a visit to Barangay (Village) Salman, where the bodies of the victims were dumped.
De Lima said she also ordered the military to cordon off the area.
?Yes there are witnesses, but we do not know if when the time comes, these witnesses are still available,? she said.
?I have the site closed to preserve it. The forensics will be back the next few days,? she told the Philippine Daily Inquirer.
De Lima said as the convoy traveled through the winding rough road to the hilly massacre site, she could not help but imagine the terror the victims felt.
?It simply shows that it was planned. Why would they go all the way here,? De Lima told the Inquirer as she walked away from the site.
