MANILA, Philippines—Pampanga Representative Juan Miguel Arroyo on Saturday indicated he was willing to set aside his reelection bid in Pampanga's second district to give way to his mother, President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, and urged her to run to take his place.
"My dear mother, in your decision-making, my sentiments must be taken as inconsequential. My political future must be brought to the backseat,'' the young Arroyo said during a call by political leaders on Ms Arroyo in Malacańang.
Serving their constituents in Pampanga would be her "best gift of gratitude,'' he added.
