MANILA, Philippines – Ranking officials of the Department of Justice (DOJ), led by acting Justice Secretary Agnes Devanadera, went to Maguindanao to facilitate the assistance, case build-up and coordination with authorities in connection with the massacre Monday when over 50 people were killed, including members of the media.
With Devanadera is Chief State Prosecutor Jovencito Zuno, Assistant Chief State Prosecutor Richard Anthony Fadullon, and Senior State Prosecutor Leo Dacera, Witness Protection Program head.
Devanadera said Task Force 211 head Undersecretary Ricardo Blancaflor was in Mindanao to personally examine the evidence, including testimonies of witnesses.
“This is a special case requiring immediate decision,” Devanadera said in a text message.
Aside from gathering of evidence, Devanadera said they were also processing the admission of witnesses into the government’s WPP. She added that they have also coordinated with Local Government Secretary Ronaldo Puno for additional information and evidence.
