Estrada unfazed by sagging rating

MANILA, Philippines – Former president Joseph Estrada said on Tuesday that he was undaunted by the latest Pulse Asia survey results ranking him at 4th place with an 11 percent preferential rating among voters.

In a chance interview with reporters at the GMA Network building, Estrada said the results of surveys between March and April would be indicative of the May 2010 election outcome.

"The latest survey does not affect me. It only means people have not yet decided whom to vote for. The elections are six months away. Between March and April, the surveys will more accurately indicate who they will vote for. I want to peak between January and February when people have already concretely decided," said Estrada, who won as president with the biggest plurality of votes in 1998 but was ousted in a civilian-military revolt in 2001 on charges of graft and corruption.

Brother Eddie Villanueva, leader of the Jesus Is Lord Christian ministry, said he was glad about his improvement from the surveys. "I am happy that from zero, I now have one percent. I believe that when the campaign begins, when the strengths and weaknesses of candidates are finally known, lulutang kung sino ang tunay na qualified [the person with the most qualifications for the job will shine].
