AROUND 100 job seekers were hired on the spot during the local and overseas job fair, dubbed ?Trabaho alang sa Quinto Distrito,? held at the Danao Civic Center in Danao City, northern Cebu recently.

The event was initiated by Cebu fifth district Rep. Ramon ?Red? Durano, in collaboration with the Department of Labor and Employment in Central Visayas (DOLE-7), Philippine Overseas Employment Administration, Cebu Association of Public Employment Service Office (PESO) Managers and the 11 local government units composed of Liloan, Compostela, Danao City, Carmen, Catmon, Sogod, Borbon, Pilar, Poro, San Francisco and Tudela of Camotes Island.

Based on the report from DOLE-7 and PESO Danao City office, more than 6,000 applicants have registered for the job fair.

Most of the applicants were hired by SM Supermarket, Rustan?s Supercenter, Cebu Mitsumi Inc., Gaisano Capital Danao, Metro Ayala Cebu, Prince Warehouse Club Danao, Prominds Synergy, Mary Woods Manpower and Recruitment Services, Auto Friend, Jollibee-Danao, SM Toy Kingdom, Matluster Corp., Monde Nissin Corp., among others.

The congressman assured his constituents that he will make the job fair a yearly event.
