MANILA, Philippines ? (UPDATE) Daughters of a slain publicist have signed their complaint against former president Joseph Estrada to be filed this week before a local court.
Lawyer Demetrio Custodio said the children of Salvador ?Bubby? Dacer could no longer come to the country and instead signed the document before the consul general in the United States where they have taken up residence.
Dacer and his driver, Emmanuel Corbito, were found murdered in 2000.
Estrada, along with Senator Panfilo Lacson, has been accused of allegedly masterminding the twin murders. Both have denied the allegations.
The criminal complaint is based on the testimony of former police Senior Superintendent Cesar Mancao who said that Estrada had direct control of the operations of the defunct Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Task Force (PAOCTF).
Mancao testified before Branch 18 of the Manila City regional trial court where the criminal information against the other PAOCTF officers was pending.
The Department of Justice (DoJ) panel of investigators has submitted for resolution the complaint for murder filed against Lacson after he failed to submit his counter-affidavit.
But the DoJ panel allowed the Dacer siblings to make an amended complaint to include other respondents like Estrada.
