SAN PEDRO, Laguna, Philippines -- The bodies of four children swept away by a flash flood in Dasmariñas, Cavite last Monday, were recovered Tuesday afternoon prompting authorities to end its search and retrieval operations, the police said on Wednesday.
Police identified the remains as those of Daryl, 9; Kobe, 7; Kent Bryan Revilla, 11; and Jerry Millalios, 12.
"The bodies were fished out from a creek at the Orchard Golf and Country Club, about five kilometers from where the children went missing," said Senior Police Officer 1 Valero Bueno of the Dasmariñas police.
"The bodies were already bloated," said Bueno.
Initial police reports said the children were catching crabs along the river banks in Barangay (village) Sampaloc 4 when a sudden flood came and swept them away.
Coast Guard and village volunteers were able to retrieve the body of one of the victims identified as Fernando Socito, 12, on Monday.
The Cavite provincial police earlier said that aside from Socito who was immediately found, six children were missing. However, the police later corrected the report and said they were searching for only four more boys.
