CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna -- The Philippine Coast Guard is searching for six children who were swept away by a flash flood that drowned a 12-year-old boy on Monday, in Dasmariñas, Cavite, a police official said Tuesday.

Senior Superintendent Alfred Corpus, Cavite police director, identified in a phone interview, the victim as Fernando Socito.

The six other children who are still missing, have yet to be identified.

Corpus said the children were catching crabs along the Pansol river in Barangay (Village) Sampaloc 4, when the flash flood occurred at around 2 p.m. Monday.
