MANILA, Philippines ? No industry will be exempted from the September 21 holiday marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan, according to Executive Secretary Eduardo Ermita.
?So far there are no exemptions,? Ermita told a press briefing on Wednesday.
On their request, the business process outsourcing and electronics industries were exempted from last Monday's non-working holiday, declared as a national day of mourning for the late Iglesia ni Cristo Executive Minister Eraño ?Ka Erdy? Manalo.
Factories, companies, and establishments that hold office during holidays are required to give additional pay to their regular workers who report for work, unless their industries have been ?exempted.?
