MANILA, Philippines?The active low pressure area spotted by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) over the weekend east of the Visayas has intensified into a tropical depression.
Named "Feria," the weather disturbance was estimated to be 230 kilometers east southeast of Borlongan, Samar. It is packing maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour. It is moving west northwest at 15 kph.
The weather agency expects Feria to be 110 km west northwest of Borogan by Wednesday morning, 130 km northeast of Coron, Palawan Thursday morning and 220 km west southwest of Subic, Zambales by Friday morning.
As a result, Eastern Visayas will have rains and strong winds. Seas will be moderate to rough, the agency said.
The rest of the Visayas region, Southern Luzon, and Mindanao will have mostly cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms.
The rest of the country will be partly cloudy to at times cloudy with isolated rain showers and thunderstorms, mostly in the afternoon or evening, Pagasa said .
