MACTAN, CEBU?Even before their merger is finalized, the two administration parties now have a working name: Lakas-Kampi CMD.
The National Unification and Consolidation Committee (NUCC), tasked with finalizing the merger of the ruling Lakas-CMD and the Kabalikat ng Malayang Pilipino (Kampi) agreed on this during talks, Gabriel Claudio said Tuesday
?The party, if the proposal of the committee is to be adopted, will be officially named Lakas Kampi CMD,? he said in a briefing at the Imperial Palace Waterpark Resort Hotel here.
Both political parties, headed by President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, are targeting to merge by June to form a formidable lineup from the mayor up to the President in the May 2010 national elections.
Speaker Prospero Nograles and Camarines Sur Rep. Luis Villafuerte had earlier quit as presidents of Lakas and Kampi, respectively, to pave the way for a smooth merger.
Apart from the name, the committee has also crafted and adopted the Constitution and by-laws for the proposed merged party, according to Claudio, chair of the committee.
