MANILA, Philippines – Malacańang softened up on Filipino boxing icon Manny Pacquiao and said he didn't violate any World Health Organization protocol on the swine flu virus by mixing with the public after flying in from the United States Friday morning.
“He and his party went through proper screening and all proper procedures at the airport which, as the President did, should serve as a good example to all returning Filipinos,” Press Secretary Cerge Remonde said in a briefing.
Remonde said he didn't believe Pacquiao broke the self-quarantine procedure, prescribed by the WHO, by hearing mass at the Quiapo Church in Manila.
“I think not. We can't take that against him if wants to go to Mass in Quiapo,” he said.
