MANILA, Philippines?Thousands of government workers will stage on February 13 protest actions against mass layoffs, a government employees confederation said on Wednesday.

"We are calling all employees nationwide to initiate participate or create any forms of actions signifying their resolute positions against layoff," labor group Unity, Recognition and Advancement of Government Employees (Courage) said in a statement.

Ferdinand Gaite, Courage president, said the mass actions will include employees from at least 23 government agencies.
