MANILA, Philippines -- Government prosecutors have closed ranks in support of beleaguered colleagues in the Department of Justice's (DOJ) Task Force Against Illegal Drugs embroiled in the bribery scandal surrounding the so-called “Alabang Boys.”
The State Prosecutor's Association (SPA) denounced accusations that members of the task force had been bribed to dismiss the charges against three drug suspects from prominent families.
State Prosecutor Crisaldo Rioflorido, SPA president, said their members will wear red armbands on Monday and place banners in the vicinity of the DoJ in support of the task force’s members.
Rioflorido said it is unfair to accuse members of the task force of bribery without proof.
The prosecutors are concerned that the integrity of not just the task force but the entire prosecution service has been jeopardized based on “baseless allegations,” he said.
