Palace lists down 2009 holidays

MANILA, Philippines -- President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo has issued Proclamation number 1699, listing down the regular and special non-working holidays for 2009.
Except for those that are religious in nature, holidays will be moved to the nearest Monday, pursuant to Republic Act 9492, the proclamation stated.
According to the proclamation, the regular holidays are: • April 9 (Maundy Thursday), • April 10 (Good Friday), • April 6 (Monday, nearest April 9, Araw ng Kagitingan), • May 1 (Labor Day, Friday), • June 12 (Independence Day, Friday), • August 31 (National Heroes' Day, Monday), • November 30 (Bonifacio Day, Monday), • Christmas Day (December 25, Friday), and • December 30 (Rizal Day, Wednesday).
The special non-working holidays are: • August 21 (Ninoy Aquino Day, Friday), • November 1 (All Saint's Day, Sunday), • November 2 (Monday), • December 24 (Thursday), and • December 31 (Thursday).
Arroyo signed the proclamation last Dec. 24, 2008, but was released only on Thursday.
