MANILA, Philippines -- The Senate is preparing a resolution commending the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) operative who exposed the alleged bribery in the “Alabang Boys.”
Senator Rodolfo Biazon said he would file within the week the resolution commending Marine Major Ferdinand Marcelino for performing his duty “wholeheartedly.” It was Marcelino who exposed the alleged bribe offers by relatives of some of the three scions of prominent families arrested late last year to secure their release.
“We are drafting a resolution to commend Major Marcelino. Maraming mga sundalo at pulis ang gumagawa ng kabutihan. Karamihan tumutupad ng katungkulan ng malinis. Nakalulungkot ang nakikita natin ay iyong mga naliligaw ng landas [There are many soldiers and policemen who do good. The majority perform their duties honorably. It is said that we see those who go astray],” Biazon said in an interview. “The commendation is to let people know that there are many policemen [and soldiers] like him [Marcelino]. I am filing the resolution within the week,” Biazon said. Biazon said he saw no reason why Marcelino should not be commended if Filipino boxing champion Manny Pacquiao was lauded by the Senate.
“The purpose [of the resolution] is to inform the people that there are many soldiers out there who still perform their duties wholeheartedly. Can you imagine the temptations of Marcelino?” he said.
