MANILA, Philippines -- Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile revealed Monday a partial list of the committee chairmanships in the Senate.
Enrile said Senator Richard Gordon would get the blue ribbon committee while Senator Gregorio "Gringo" Honasan would lead three, including the one on energy, which Senator Miriam Defensor Santiago currently heads.
The other two committees that will go to Honasan are the committees on agrarian reform and public order, Enrile said.
Senator Panfilo "Ping" Lacson will also get three committees -- ethics, ways and means, and accounts.
Santiago will stay as head of the committee on foreign relations plus the committee on economic affairs.
Senators Ramon "Bong" Revilla Jr. will head the committee on public works and highways, Rodolfo Biazon, the national defense and urban planning, Lito Lapid to remain chairman of games and amusement and sports, and Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III to stay as chairman of the committee on local government.
Neophyte Senator Francis "Chiz" Escudero will also retain his chairmanship of the justice committee, although Enrile said Escudero was also deciding whether to get the committee on banks, government corporations or the constitutional amendments.
Aside from the foreign relations committee, Enrile said Santiago would also head the committee on economic affairs.
Loren Legarda is head of the committee on agriculture, Edgardo Angara, the finance committee; and Majority Floor Leader Juan Miguel Zubiri, chairman the committee on cooperatives.
As majority leader, Zubiri will also become the concurrent chairman of the committee on rules.
Senator Jose “Jinggoy” Estrada will stay as chairman of the committee on labor while Senator Ana Consuelo “Jamby” Madrigal will head the committee on environment.
