MANILA, Philippines -- Retired police comptroller Eliseo dela Paz and top officials of the Philippine National Police (PNP) appeared anew at the House of Representatives Thursday for the resumption of the inquiry into the Moscow fund mess.
Dela Paz is in an executive session with the House committee on public order and safety to tell the lawmakers what intelligence equipment the PNP was supposed to have procured in the course of a top-level police delegation?s attendance at the 77th Interpol assembly in Russia.
The retired comptroller and his wife were apprehended by Russian customs officials in Moscow on October 11 after they were found carrying 105,000 euros (P6.9 million) in undeclared cash.
Bayan Muna (People First) Representative Teodoro Casiño, who sought the probe, said it remains unclear where the money, which Dela Paz claims to have drawn as a cash advance from the PNP?s intelligence fund, was actually sourced.
