MANILA, Philippines -- Malacañang said the warning of a New-York based think tank that the road to the 2010 elections would not be smooth amid fresh efforts to rewrite the Constitution and global economic woes was "purely hypothetical."
"The issue raised by Global Source is purely hypothetical. The Palace will make certain that there shall be a smooth and peaceful turnover come 2010," deputy presidential spokesperson Lorelei Fajardo said in a statement.
While Arroyo is open to criticism, Fajardo said what is important is "she gets the job done."
While Global Source was wary over plans to amend the Constitution and the financial crisis, it said remittances from Filipino workers overseas would keep the economy afloat.
