NEW YORK CITY—Press Secretary Jesus Dureza was admitted to the New York Presbyterian Hospital after he complained of severe stomach pains late Wednesday night (early Thursday in Manila).

An official statement from the Office of the Press Secretary said Dureza was given pain relievers and was made to undergo various tests.

Dureza had to skip dinner with Philippine Ambassador to the United Nations Hilario Davide and dinner he was hosting for media covering President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo’s five-day trip to the United Nations General Assembly.

President Arroyo is scheduled to return to Manila late Thursday. Fe Zamora
