MANILA, Philippines—The Makati city government on Thursday held a job fair for the deaf and mute persons.
The Lamoiyan Corporation, maker of Hapee Toothpaste, is the main sponsor of the program, which provides opportunities for people with disabilities (PWDs), Makati Mayor Jejomar Binay said.
The Filipino firm is set to hire 100 deaf and mute applicants.
"Through these opportunities, we will not only help boost the PWDs’ self confidence, but also enable them to be self-reliant and productive members of the community," Binay said in a statement released Wednesday.
The job fair will again be held on September 18 and 25 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the Makati PESO Office at the New Makati City Hall.
It is open to deaf and mute applicants, male or female, 18 to 35 years old, and at least high school level.
Applicants must bring their resumé and/or bio-data with recent picture. Initial screening will be done at the Makati PESO Office.
