MANILA, Philippines—The new chief of the 250th Presidential Airlift Wing, in charge of air transportation for the President and her family, assumed his post Friday, the spokesman of the Philippine Air Force (PAF) said.
Colonel Alger Tan took over from Brigadier General Celedonio Boquiren Jr., who has been serving as chief of the Presidential Security Group (PSG) for close to two months. PAF Chief Lieutenant General Pedrito Cadungog presided over the turnover, PAF spokesman Major Gerardo Zamudio said.
Tan will have at his disposal nine aircraft including a Blackhawk helicopter, six Bell helicopters, and two airplanes, Zamudio said in a phone interview.
He has served as acting chief of the 250th Presidential Airlift Wing since Boquiren assumed the PSG post in early June, the spokesman said.
