MANILA, Philippines -- The Supreme Court will investigate in an en banc (full court) session on Tuesday the bribery allegations involving one of the justices at the Court of Appeals, a spokesman for the high court said Friday.
Records into the alleged P10 million peso offer to appellate court Associate Justice Jose Sabio by one Francis Roa de Borja, a reported ?emissary? of the Manila Electric Co. for Sabio to inhibit himself from the case, have been forwarded to the Supreme Court, lawyer Jose Midas Marquez said.
The Court of Appeals held an en banc session Thursday over the controversy.
The high court will determine the propriety or impropriety of the actions of the appeals court justices, Marquez said.
Sabio said included in the documents were his letters of complaint and those of Associate Justice Myrna
Dimaranan-Vidal, affidavits, and their evidence.
"All our letters are forwarded to the Supreme Court. They will study it. If they will require additional information, it depends," Sabio said.
The Supreme Court, through its Office of the Court Administrator, will conduct its investigation.
The OCAD investigates complaints against members of the judiciary and make recommendations to the Supreme Court en banc.
