MANILA, Philippines -- Passengers with tickets to travel aboard vessels owned by a shipping firm embroiled in controversy following an accident involving one of their ships should refund the tickets, an official said Tuesday.
Maricar Serrano from the office of Sulpicio Lines Inc. (SLI) vice president for passenger affairs said all their trips have been suspended indefinitely after the Maritime Industry Authority (Marina) grounded all their vessels in the wake of an investigation into the sinking of the MV Princess of the Stars during the onslaught of typhoon “Frank” (international codename: Fengshen) over the weekend.
Scores died and hundreds remained missing in the accident that occurred last Saturday as search and rescue operations continued.
Passengers scheduled to travel on Sulpicio ships can get their refund at the Sulpicio office at the Manila North Harbor.
