MANILA, Philippines -- The Philippines and Swaziland on Monday signed in Malacañang two agreements that seek to foster cooperation and consultation between the two nations.
Swaziland King Mwasta III, on a state visit to Manila, was given arrival honors when he arrived at Malacañang Monday to meet with President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo. The King was accompanied by his wife, Queen Imkhosikati Lankhambule and a small delegation.
King Mswati conferred with President Arroyo soon after the arrival honors.
The President’s husband, Jose Miguel Arroyo, took the Swazi queen on a tour of the Palace museum while their spouses talked.
The President and the Swazi leader then witnessed the signing of the two agreements.
Foreign Secretary Alberto Romulo signed the two accords with his Swazi counterpart -- an economic, scientific, technical and cultural cooperation pact and a memorandum of agreement that is hoped to lead to the creation of a bilateral consultation mechanism between the two countries.
