Villar richest senator, Trillanes ‘poorest’

MANILA, Philippines -- Senate President Manuel Villar is the richest senator in the country, with a net worth of over P1 billion, while detained Senator Antonio Trillanes IV is the “poorest,” with P2.6 million.
Villar’s statements of assets and liabilities showed that, as of December 2007, he had total assets of P1,041,383.946 with no liabilities.
Trailing far behind him were Senators Ma. Ana Consuelo Madrigal with a net worth of P146, 483, 524, Ramon "Bong" Revilla with P117,968,000, and Manuel Roxas II with assets of P110,634, 079.
Roxas, however, declared liabilities of P61,703, 806.00, the most of the 23 senators.
Next on the list are Senators Juan Ponce Enrile with total assets of P98,840,037, Mirian Defensor-Santiago with P89,386,749, Jose “Jinggoy” Estrada with P83,154,561.00, Pia Cayetano with P76,397,210.00, Loren Legarda with P45,990,565.00 and Edgardo Angara with P44,104,997.
Angara has the second highest liability -- P39, 325, 705.
With Trillanes at the bottom are Senators Francis Escudero, listed as second poorest with total assets of P7,469,441 and liabilities of P3.8 million, Joker Arroyo with P11,050,000 and no liabilities, Aquilino Pimentel Jr. with P11, 533, 496, and Manuel “Lito” Lapid with P12,095, 068
