MANILA, Philippines -- Justice Secretary Raul Gonzalez has ordered the Bureau of Immigration to put a key witness on the national broadband network (NBN) scandal on its watchlist.
Gonzalez said Wednesday that Rodolfo Noel Lozada Jr., who filed a case of kidnapping against officials of the Philippine National Police, is facing countercharges for perjury.
Gonzalez said Environment Secretary Jose “Lito” Atienza also informed him that he is studying the possibility of filing a case against Lozada.
The charges Lozada filed stem from his alleged abduction from the Ninoy Aquino International Airport by state security agents upon his return to the country in February in what was he claimed was an attempt to prevent him from testifying on the supposed bribery and overpricing that accompanied the since scrapped NBN deal with China’s ZTE Corp.
