MANILA, Philippines -- Hope springs eternal for the Aquino family.

A week after disclosing that former President Corazon Aquino has been slowly regaining her appetite, her grandsons had more good news about her condition on Sunday.

“Our lola (grandmother) has totally regained her appetite,” eldest grandson Jiggy Cruz updated the faithful at the eighth Holy Mass for Truth, Accountability and Justice held for whistle-blower Rodolfo Noel “Jun” Lozada in Manila on Sunday.

Cruz thanked everyone for the prayers offered for Aquino, who was recently diagnosed with colon cancer.

He also expressed support for Lozada, who was listening in the audience.

“We will continue to stand by you as our grandmother did,” Cruz said.

Aquino's other grandson, Kiko Dee, said he was happy at how young students all over the country expressed disgruntlement with the Arroyo administration.

He also disclosed that he pitied Jonathan, the grandson of former Commission on Elections (Comelec) Chair Benjamin Abalos Sr., after the bribery scandal over the National Broadband Network deal erupted.

“He stopped going to school for a while because of what his grandfather [allegedly] did (in connection with the NBN-ZTE deal),” Dee said.

He said he likewise felt sorry for President Macapagal-Arroyo's grandchildren.

“This administration has no regard or love for the country,” he declared.

Lozada has accused Abalos of demanding a $130-million kickback from the NBN deal and said the former Comelec chairman has been reporting to First Gentleman Jose Miguel Arroyo.
