MANILA, Philippines -- The agriculture sector party-list group Abono (Fertilizer) on Saturday took the lead in the latest canvass of the Commission on Elections, garnering 96,357 votes.
The partial, unofficial tally made by reporters as Comelec read out the votes puts Bayan Muna (People First) in second place with 92,084 votes, followed by Buhay (Life) with 88,279 votes.
Cibac (Citizens? Battle Against Corruption), which like Buhay is a party-list group associated with a religious group, placed fifth with 67,119 votes.
Feminist group Gabriela is sixth with 62,911 votes. Anakpawis, which has detained labor leader Crispin Beltran as its current representative, is 12th with 33,395 votes.
Etta Rosales's Akbayan is 13th with 32,940 votes, while controversial retired major general Jovito Palparan's Bantay is 18th with 25,045 votes.
Most of the votes canvassed were from overseas.
A party-list group wins one seat for every two percent of the overall votes cast for party-list. It is not yet known how many people voted for party-list in the last elections.
