MANILA, Philippines? The Quezon City Police District has launched a manhunt for a Filipino-Chinese ?businessman? who reportedly swindled an appliance company of P2.9 million worth of air-conditioning units, the city police chief said on Thursday.
Chief Superintendent Elmo San Diego said police are now searching for a certain Bryan Cheng, after officials from Hitachi Air-Conditioning Products Philippines Inc. filed a complaint against the suspect.
San Diego said that on March 17, Hitachi vice president Eric Yu approached police complaining that Cheng had issued a check in payment for 92 air-conditioning units amounting to P2.9 million.
However, when the check was deposited to the Bank of the Philippine Islands in Vito Cruz, Manila, officials from Hitachi discovered that Cheng?s account had already been closed, San Diego said.
