MANILA, Philippines ? (UPDATE) Nine people were hurt after the four public buses they were riding in figured in a chain collision along the southbound lane of Edsa, police said.
The accident occurred around 7:30 a.m. at the corner of Edsa and Arnaiz Avenue in Makati City where a Pacita Complex-bound St. Rose bus suddenly stopped to pick up passengers on a sloping portion of EDSA, said Police Officer 2 Norman Mapile, traffic investigator detailed at the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority.
Mapile said the first bus? sudden halt caused another St. Rose bus behind it to slam into its rear. A multiple collision ensued when the second bus was hit by a Joyselle Bus Line unit, which was in turn bumped by a Cher bus.
The passengers were brought to Ospital ng Makati for treatment, although no one was seriously injured, Mapile said.
He said that should the passengers wish to file complaints, the four drivers could face charges of reckless imprudence resulting in physical injury.
The accident snarled traffic from Scout Borromeo all the way to Ayala, according to the MMDA Metrobase.
