MANILA, Philippines -- The body of a septuagenarian from Pangasinan was found floating Sunday morning in a creek in Manila.
Homicide investigators of the Manila Police District (MPD) remain puzzled over how the body of Hilario Aquino, 73, of Dumpay Basista in Pangasinan, ended up in a Manila creek.
SPO3 Paul Dennis Javier, case investigator, said that Aquino?s body was fished out at around 8:15 a.m., Sunday, at the Estero de Magdalena near the Reina de Regente Bridge, in Binondo.
Javier revealed that when the body was discovered by Barangay 218 Zone 27 tanod Bonifacio Santosidad, it was already bloated.
Santosidad immediately informed the MPD Meisic police station 11 of the discovery and sought assistance.
The case investigator said he found no external injury on the body, which was turned over to the Cruz funeral parlor for autopsy and safekeeping.
Javier theorized that the septuagenarian could have visited a relative in Manila but pointed out that nobody in the area, where his body was found, recognized him.
Homicide investigators are conducting follow-up operations to determine how Aquino ended up dead in the creek.
