MANILA, Philippines ? The desire to enjoy a quiet breakfast proved fatal for a 37-year-old lodge guest who was attacked Thursday morning by two men whom he requested to refrain from using firecrackers inside a restaurant in Manila.
James Tan, 37, of Valenzuela City, a guest at room 306 of the Day Dream Lodge II at the corner of Lope De Vega and Rizal Avenue in Sta. Cruz, was declared dead on arrival at the Jose Reyes Memorial Medical Center from a stab wound in the chest.
His attackers remain at large and are the object of a police hunt.
Senior Police Officer 2 Paul Dennis Javier of the MPD homicide section said that the incident happened at around 7:00 a.m. at the lobby of the Day Dream Lodge.
Before the incident, Javier revealed, Tan had entered the lodge restaurant to have breakfast and noticed the two men, who were accompanied by four other people and all apparently drunk, using dangerous firecrackers inside the restaurant.

Cabriodas and other lodge employees immediately brought their guest to the hospital.
